Tips for Making Content for Gen Z

A guide written by a Millennial but approved by Gen Z staff.
- Be Visual
- Be Interactive
- Be Succinct
- Be Urgent
- Be Yourself
- DON’T Be Facebook
Be Visual
Gen Z only uses two to three of these platforms daily – YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. So it really goes without saying that you have to have motion graphics and video for these platforms. By comparison, Millennials, and Gen X use so many platforms: Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. We won’t even talk about the Boomers, ok?
Be Interactive
Are you Gen Z? take this quick to find out! See what I did there? Think of quizzes, polls, lives, etc.
Be Succinct
Keep it short and sweet.
Be Urgent
Tap into that FOMO! Make it an immediate action or need. Limited time, availability, edition – Gen Z stays present, so the need for action must be imminent.
Be Yourself
Authenticity is still important. Audiences value brands that demonstrate through personal or customer stories mutual respect, honesty and trust between them. For a whole lot more on authenticity in marketing, you can view our whole blog post on it – “Can I be Honest with You? The Truth about Authentic Marketing”
DON’T Be Facebook
Please stop marketing to Gen Z on Facebook! Yes, essentially Facebook and Instagram same company…yada, yada, yada…but whole different audiences. Just don’t do it!
